   Why Green Drinks?

๐Ÿฅฌ Why Green Drinks? (Our Personal Ritual)

In our journey, green drinks became a daily staple — a way to fill Brad’s body with the nutrients and enzymes found in fresh vegetables. There were busy days when we leaned on powdered greens, but nothing beat a fresh batch of juiced veggies.

Let’s face it — we could never chew through the amount we were able to drink in one sitting! Juicing made it easier for Brad to get variety in his diet and was gentler on digestion. Over time, it became a ritual — something that felt nourishing and grounding.

๐Ÿ‹ Little Tweaks That Helped

  • Added half a lemon to our green drink — once in the morning, once at night — for brightness and flavor

  • Skipped onion and garlic in juices because of their strong taste (but added garlic generously to meals)

  • Added turmeric and ginger often — plants we felt good about including

  • Sometimes mixed turmeric with oil, based on research we came across about improving absorption

๐Ÿงƒ Our Juicer

We used a Breville juicer and genuinely loved it — easy to clean, take apart, and reassemble. That made juicing feel less like a chore.

The leftover pulp didn’t go to waste — we froze it and used it later as a hearty base for soups.

๐ŸŒฑ Powdered Greens (For Backup)

On days we couldn’t juice fresh produce, we turned to:

  • Spirulina — an ancient algae

  • Wheatgrass powder — a concentrated green plant source

We mixed each powder in warm water and drank it like a quick shot. Over time, we even started craving the taste.

๐Ÿงพ Staying On Track

We followed many Gerson Therapy juicing principles as closely as we could. One tip we took to heart: drinking juice right after making it. We had read that enzymes may not last long once juiced — whether fully true or not, it became part of our rhythm: blend, pour, drink, repeat.

๐Ÿงƒ Green Drink #1

(Several 8 oz servings per day)

  • Handful of kale

  • ½ bunch of spinach

  • ¼ head medium broccoli

  • Bunch of Italian parsley

๐Ÿงƒ Green Drink #2

(Several 8 oz servings per day)

  • 1 bunch baby bok choy

  • ½ bunch spinach

  • Handful of chard

  • Bunch of Italian parsley

๐Ÿงƒ Green Drink #3

(Several 8 oz servings per day)

  • Few sticks of celery

  • ¼ head broccoli

  • Handful of spinach

  • Bunch of Italian parsley

We washed everything thoroughly — using veggie wash to remove residue and checking leafy greens carefully. Organic produce was our preference when possible, and Amazon Fresh often delivered deals over $50.

We juiced stems and all, then drank right away. It became a rhythm, a habit… and eventually, a comfort.
