Navigating the Fog: What They Don’t Tell You

It wasn’t just the diagnosis that shook us. It was the fog that followed — the endless forms, vague timelines, blank stares from specialists, and the sense that no one was really in charge. If you're not your own advocate, you’ll fall through the cracks. We did more research than most med students just trying to keep up with it all.

Nobody tells you how disorienting it is when you're handed a packet and told to sign. Nobody explains why treatment must begin immediately — while also delaying it for weeks. The contradictions pile up, and you either go numb or get loud. We chose the latter.

The Waiting Rooms of America

You learn a lot in waiting rooms. How people hide their fear. How quickly a good scan can turn into a nightmare. You meet warriors in sweatpants. You overhear doctors on break. You learn to pack snacks, patience, and a charger.

Every waiting room has its energy. Some are cold and clinical. Others feel like cattle stalls. A few have fish tanks and smiles. Most have TVs blaring Judge Judy. What they don't have is real support. That comes from the people sitting beside you — the ones who lean over and say, "Me too."

When Love Becomes a Battle Strategy

There’s nothing soft about loving someone through cancer. It's fierce. It's sleepless nights, second-guessing everything, learning to inject, massage, blend, track, advocate. It's hoping for good stool. It's celebrating when they eat half a sandwich.

Love is not always pretty. Sometimes it’s a nurse's stare while you argue with a nutritionist. Sometimes it’s snapping at your partner because you’re exhausted and scared. But love keeps you in the room. It makes you listen harder. Fight smarter. Stay longer. Love is how we made it through.

Truth vs. Trouble

The hardest part? Speaking truth without getting in trouble. We never claimed to have answers — only experiences. But experience can be dangerous when it challenges the status quo.

So here's our truth: Cannabis helped. Nutrition mattered. Kindness mattered more. We found healing in places medicine forgot to look. And we are not alone.

We say this not to prescribe, but to remind others: there is more than one way through the fire. And if you're reading this, you're already braver than you think.

More blogs to come. Thank you for walking with us.
